TWO SHAW SPORTEXE FIELDS HONORED AT RECENT ASBA ANNUAL MEETING
December 20, 2011

Two facilities featuring Shaw Sportexe synthetic turf systems were announced as award winners at the recent American Sports Builder Association annual meeting. The ASBA's annual Awards Program helps to promote the highest standards of construction by recognizing excellence in design, construction and renovation. Receiving both the Outstanding Green Facility of the Year award and a Distinguished Sports Field award, the Taos Eco-Park, featuring a Shaw Sportexe synthetic turf, was designed and constructed by Living Designs Group Architects and Lone Mountain Contracting. Located in Taos, New Mexico, it is currently the highest altitude FIFA 2-Star training facility in the world. The park's sustainable features include Shaw Sportexe synthetic turf with 100% recycled rubber infill, a rainwater collection system for irrigation, native plants for landscaping and a utility building made from recycled content. George Washington High School, featuring two Shaw Sportexe synthetic turf fields, was awarded a Distinguished Multi-Field Facility Award. The school located in San Francisco, CA houses a 91,000 square foot soccer field and an 80,000 square foot football field. The award recognized Verde Design, Inc. for its excellent work with the upgrade of the facility. Both facilities feature Shaw Sportexe's PowerBlade HP+ turf system which consists of a 2.5" monofilament fiber and a mixture of sand and rubber infill. In addition to safety and durability characteristics, PowerBlade HP+ is an engineered system built for performance needs where athlete-surface and ball-surface interactions are critical. "We are extremely honored to be associated with these two outstanding facilities as well as our partners who assisted with the design and construction of these fields- Living Designs Group, Lone Mountain Contracting and Verde Design, Inc. ," said Division Vice President, Tom Enright. "It just reinforces our commitment to building quality fields that excel in durability, safety and performance."
