SUPULVEDA DAM SPORTS COMPLEX CENTERS AROUND NEW SHAW SPORTEXE FIELD December 1, 2011
Phase I of the new Supulveda Dam Sports Complex features a 68-acrea recreational facility in Lake Balboa, complete with a Shaw Sportexe synthetic soccer field and two softball/baseball fields. The complex also includes picnic areas and bicycle and walking paths.
The soccer field, a Shaw Sportexe PowerBlade HP synthetic turf system, is known to excel in performance characteristics such as ball roll and ball bounce, while also providing four times the amount of play compared to natural grass. Best of all, the Shaw Sportexe requires little maintenance and no water, saving millions of gallons a year. Other environmental benefits include no pollution producing maintencance equipment, costly fertilizers or pesticides and the field is completely recyclable at the end of its use.
Already a popular recreational area for the city with amenities like a remote-controlled airfield, golf courses, animal habitats, a lake and more, the sports complex will become the flagship area for Encino residents to exercise, play and relax.
Construction on the Shaw Sportexe synthetic field has been completed. The complex is scheduled to be unveiled with a grand opening event in January 2012. Plans for Phase II and Phase III are underway and will include additional open grass areas and soccer fields.
